Measures in place

verified on every release
  1. Semantic structure

Every page uses real headings in order and opens with a skip to content link.

  2. Described photographs

Photographs carry descriptive alt text written for each image.

  3. Keyboard operable

Navigation, menus and the FAQ accordions all work from the keyboard alone.

  4. Visible focus

Anything you can tab to shows a focus ring the moment it takes focus.

  5. Checked contrast

Text and controls are measured against WCAG 2.1 level AA before release.

  6. Reduced motion

Animation stops when your system asks for reduced motion.

  7. Labelled forms

Fields use real labels and fieldsets, and errors are named in text.

  8. Tested both ways

Reviewed with automated tooling and again by keyboard on every release.

known limitations

Where the site falls short today

Two gaps are open, and naming them is more use to you than a general promise. Photographs in the archive carry shorter alt text than the newer work, and we are rewriting them a set at a time. The YouTube and Instagram embeds are third party players: once you press play, their controls and their captions follow their own rules, which we do not set.
