October 2024
New York City
White gallery walls and a continually moving crowd set the conditions for Karina Lumiere’s exhibition opening in New York City in October 2025. The assignment covered both the installation and the event: views of the hanging, the relationships between neighboring pieces, and the conversations around the work. JPX Studios photographed the installation before the room filled. As guests arrived, Jenya used doorways, shoulders, and reflections to include people while keeping the artwork visible. Gallery lighting favored the walls, so Jenya balanced exposure to retain color in the work and keep faces readable. The delivered gallery contains 381 frames, moving from installation photographs and wider room views to candid photographs of viewers responding to individual pieces.
JPX Studios photographed the installation before the room reached capacity, preserving clear views of the hanging and the relationship between neighboring pieces. Once guests arrived, Jenya used doorways, shoulders, and reflections to layer people into the compositions without obscuring the art. Gallery lighting is designed for the wall, not the audience, so exposure was balanced carefully to retain color in the work while keeping faces readable.
The finished sequence moves from exhibition documentation into the social life of the opening. Clean installation frames serve the artist and gallery archive; wider views show how the room was organized; and candid photographs capture viewers responding to individual pieces. Together they present the event as more than a crowded reception, placing the artwork at the center of every part of the story.
