NYC brand activation photography, while the room still looks built

Brand activations photography in one paragraph

A brand activation is a room built to be photographed, and it only holds that shape for about an hour. Jenya Mironov works New York activations in the order they actually fall apart: the build, the signage and the product wall before doors, then the bar and the branded moment while the line is still outside, then the room once it fills and half the set is behind somebody’s shoulder. The Don Julio x Peggy Gou Gouvenirs takeover, the Casa Lumbre Almave tasting, the STMNT barbering station, and Sol de Janeiro on a rooftop all came down to the same two proofs: the thing the brand paid to build, and people standing in it. Both go in the same gallery, and selects go back the same night when the campaign is already running.

Before doors. The build is only clean once, and that pass takes twenty to forty minutes: signage straight, product faced, bar stocked, nobody standing in front of the logo. Those are the frames that end up in the recap deck, and they cannot be recovered later in the night.

Both, and in that order. The build proves what was made; the crowd proves it worked. An activation gallery that is only empty set pieces reads like a rendering, and one that is only guests could have happened anywhere.

A run of show, the marks that have to be legible in the frame, and the names of anyone who has to be photographed. Talent windows and press hits are usually the only fixed points in the night, so the rest of the coverage plan is built around them.
