Private events photography in one paragraph

A private night is not a campaign, and photographing it like one ruins it. Jenya Mironov covers New York dinners, celebrations, and closed parties quietly: the room while it is still set, the food before it is eaten, then the table and the people at it, shot from far enough back that the conversation keeps going. The McKinney holiday party, the Chef’s Garden dinner in the plants at Lume, and a long seated table in a projected room all worked the same way: nobody was posed into a line, and no flash was fired across the meal. The gallery goes to the host, and it goes nowhere else unless the host says so.

Not without the host saying yes. Private work stays private by default, which includes the portfolio and the feed. If a few frames can be shared, that is a separate conversation after the gallery has been seen.

Long lens, no flash, no interruptions between courses. Guests notice the camera in the first ten minutes and then stop, which is when the frames that are worth keeping start.

Yes, and it is worth the extra half hour. Place settings, flowers, the gifts, the light before anyone touches it; planners and hosts use those frames more than they expect to, and they exist only once.
