Robin Eley

In September 2022, JPX Studios photographed Robin Eley’s Private Collection / Closed for Installation, presented with David Korins at Lume Studios in Tribeca, Manhattan. The exhibition brought 17 oil paintings and one bronze sculpture into the fictional New or Traditional Art Museum, an institution supposedly holding works hidden from public view. Jenya photographed each work as installed, the relationships between the pieces, and the rooms built around that premise. One painting draped in translucent plastic was lit by a single spotlight in a dark room. Controlled angles reduced glare and distortion, while wider compositions preserved the theatrical setting. During the opening, Jenya photographed viewers, conversations, and reactions while keeping the art visible. The completed gallery included artwork and installation views, room photographs, and audience images documenting how visitors encountered the exhibition.
