TNS Brooklyn Half Marathon
New York City
The Next Step took a team to the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon in April 2026, and JPX Studios filmed the morning. Jenya shot the race day and cut the film, working the start area, the course and the finish, and catching runners on the barrier while they still had the race in them. A vertical edit went out for social with the speech subtitled, so it reads with the sound off.
Race morning gives one pass at everything and no second takes. The team gathered behind the rope in matching shirts before the waves went out, the course ran grey and wet under the trees, and the finish filled with foil blankets and medals. The camera moved with the team rather than holding one position, so the film could follow the same faces from the corral to the far side of the line. The interviews were caught at the barrier between waves, which is the only window where a runner will stand still and talk.

The Next Step came away with a film built around its own runners talking, cut long for the record and vertical for the feed, with the speech subtitled so it carries on a silent timeline. The photographs here are the team pictures from the morning, taken between the waves and at the finish. The race gallery itself was another studio’s assignment; what JPX Studios brought to the day was the filming and the edit.
