Dirty Flowers

For Dirty Flowers, Jenya covered the installation before Infinity Song began playing, then photographed the band and audience in the same room. At Lume Studios in Tribeca, Manhattan, creative director Angel Boyd brought together New York artist Mike McManus and her family band for a multimedia exhibition celebrating New York City and its people. Warm spotlights lit the flower paintings, while the performance included deep blue light and a projected sunset. Jenya kept the artwork in the compositions while moving between musicians and the crowd. JPX Studios delivered a gallery of installation photographs, performance images and crowd frames, recording the artwork on its own and the room during the live program.

JPX Studios documented the artwork and installation before the performance, then reframed the same room once the band began playing. Jenya moved between individual works, musicians, and the audience, looking for compositions that kept the art present behind the live action. Stage light and gallery light serve different purposes, so the coverage preserved the changing atmosphere without allowing either the work or the performers to disappear.
